Description
A celebration of wheat, enveloped by the sun and its warmth.
What satisfaction the harvest brings, when the hard-won fruits of spring and summer’s labour are finally in! The reverse of this 99.99% pure gold pysanka coin is an exquisite work of art that celebrates the life-sustaining properties of wheat, which adorns each point of the Ukrainian eight-pointed star that is a powerful expression of love, devotion and passion. Behind that central star, the design’s joyous spirit only grows as several more stars—each one adorned with meaningful motifs—join in this spellbinding celebration of the fertility, prosperity and abundance that reward the ambition of spring.

DID YOU KNOW?
Wheat stalks are more frequently seen on diaspora pysanky, but in other forms of Ukrainian folk art (such as embroidery), wheat is a longstanding symbol of a bountiful harvest, and of prosperity and fertility.
Designed by Canadian artist Tracy Rossier, your gold pysanka coin’s reverse is a dazzling arrangement of Ukrainian motifs and features an eight-pointed star—a traditional symbol of love and devotion—at its centre, with a wheat stem in each point to represent fertility, health, prosperity and abundance. Building and expanding outward, this joyous celebration of wheat’s life-sustaining properties incorporates additional symbols, including those representing water and sun, which fill the points of the larger star shapes and the space between them. The obverse features the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
